Musica Copa 2014 Wrap Up + Photos
In it’s second year running, Musica Copa again provided to be a staggering success, with Australia’s music community coming together in the name of football and charity, and to prove once and for all, which label holds the most athletically apt members and musicians!
Taking place in Marrickville’s KIKOFF Soccer Centre, the tournament saw some of Australia’s most loved music labels swap their instruments for a football, and play a few games of 5-sided soccer. All for the chance to win big for the labels’ chosen charities. With $12,000 up for grabs, the pressure was definitely on!
Again, Sweat It Out x Maker conquered the football field and were crowned Musica Copa’s reigning champions for a second time. In a rematch that saw come face to face with Onelove, their grand finale competitors of the following year , they provided too good to be beaten, and for their effort, they scored a sweat 5,000 grand for their charity, St Vincent De Paul.
But Onelove didn’t go away empty handed, with the label landing a neat 4,000 for Beyond Blue. Third place winners MTV also got a nice 3,000 for the Ted Noffs Foundation.
It wasn’t all sport and no play, with DJ sets from Yolanda Be Cool, Indian Summer and Bag Raiders providing a very fitting soundtrack to the action on the field.
All in all, it was a good day of music, beer and football that gave back to some great charities. Here’s what Paul organisers Stix (UNDR ctrl) and Martin Novosel (Purple Sneakers) had to say about 2014’s event:
“The level of sport, enthusiasm and friendship was so high both on and off the pitch, and it was our total pleasure to bring the music industry together for a second year and raise such a significant amount of money for charity. We feel very humbled and excited for next year already!”
We can’t wait either!
