Live Review: Mirror Kisses 'Never Late Again'

29 January 2015 | 11:14 pm | Emma Jones

Brooklyn producer Mirror Kisses has released a new track, Never Late Again, as part of Moongadget Records' 10 anniversary compilation, 'Dynamo'.

George Clanton and his unique brand of "experimental chill rave" are back with his latest track, Never Late Again, as part of MOONGADGET RECORDS' 10th anniversary compilation, Dynamo.

Borrowing elements from the future and combining them with elements of the past, MIRROR KISSES is onto something really good here.

Whether it be his TEARS FOR FEARS-esque voice, or the nostalgia-tinged drum machines, the synths Clanton uses or the uptempo dance beats, this type of futuristic retro pop is undeniably fun, forward-thinking and signifies a growing new style of music.

Starting off with vocal samples, crisp beats and synths grooving along, the track continues to keep along the 80's style as it breaks down into a high pitched synth over the occasional crash. Warmer synths come into play as Clanton begins to sing. He continues to play with layers, adding to and taking from the track. Although this is more downtempo than others, it's still enough to get you dancing along as he laments the song title, as someone is always waiting for him.

Never Late Again appears alongside 21 other electronic tracks from MOONGADGET artists such as TEEELTEEN DAZE and CERTAIN CREATURES.

MIRROR KISSES is said to be dropping an album this year, so until then, Never Late Again - which is up for free download on his SoundCloud - will have to do!
