Live Review: George Maple ‘Talk Talk’ (Moon Boots Remix)

16 February 2015 | 9:30 pm | Katie Rowley

George Maple’s ‘Talk Talk’ has been spruced up for 2015 by Chicago’s zero gravity remixer MOON BOOTS.

George Maple’s ‘Talk Talk’, the Flume-produced debut single from last year’s Vacant Space EP, has been spruced up for 2015 by Chicago’s zero gravity remixer MOON BOOTS.

Funkier and more upbeat than the original, George’s vocals (real name Jess, George is a pseudonym perhaps nodding to literary alias George Eliot?) are slightly more distorted and washed out in favour of a trade mark Moon Boots bubbly bass line. Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches and now living in London, George has worked with Flight Facilities and toured with chill-wave darling Toro Y Moi – her hard work has paid off and the collaborations returned as Moon Boots adds his own deep house touch to her sound.

Maple’s glitchy beats and trip hop are out and muffled funky house is in on this classy remix. This is actually the first of three official remixes being released by Future Classic and you’ll be able to download the ‘Talk Talk (Digital Remix Bundle)’ from online stores in early March. The question of who will feature on the other two remixes remains to be seen.
