Live Review: Flower Drums 'End II End'

29 March 2015 | 10:00 am | Emma Jones

Perth band Flower Drums have released the third single off their forthcoming EP. Titled 'End II End', the band will also be going on tour.

Perth band FLOWER DRUMS make dream pop, and they make it incredibly well. Following on from a successful 2014, and beautiful 2015 offering 'Don't Wait' being released merely weeks ago, they're showing no signs of slowing down with the release of their new song, 'End II End'.

Combining the blues with electronica and indie pop styled vocals, 'End II End' is an extension of the groundwork already laid out from Flower Drums' previous two singles. Picking up where 'Don't Wait' left off, this stripped back track is downtempo, sweeping and intimate. The four piece are letting listeners in a little more with this one, dropping their guard with personal lyrics and passionately delivered vocals.

'End II End' is a slow burner, combining intricate and precise guitar melodies with skipping beats and synth loops. Frontman Leigh Craft's soft croons float along the rolling track, and although his vocals inject a lot of indie pop, they never stray too far from the dreamy, electronic core of the Flower Drums sound.

This is the third preview of their forthcoming EP, 28 Mansions which is out next month. 'End II End' also comes with the announcement that the "percussive petals" will be hitting the road, playing Melbourne, two Sydney shows, Perth and Fremantle ahead of the EP dropping. It's only a matter of time before Flower Drums cement themselves on the national radar, so it would be wise to not delay on these more intimate shows whilst they're happening. The days for these are numbered!

May 6 - Beach Road Hotel, Sydney

May 9 - Oxford Arts Factory, Sydney
