Splendour In The Grass 2015 Rumour Mill

10 April 2015 | 6:14 pm | Tony Kingston

The line up for this year's Splendour In The Grass is just around the corner so we thought we'd take some educated guesses on which acts will be performing.

It's that time of the year again when we put on our thinking caps and take some educated guesses on who will be playing this year's Splendour In The Grass. Without further to do, here are some of the artists we think will be performing at the event in 2015:

TAME IMPALA (AUS)

Last toured: 2014

Rumour validation: After the release of two killer new tracks from their upcoming LP 'Currents', we're all pretty excited to see the band perform live again. Looking at their current touring schedule, almost the entire month of July appears to be free, which indicates they could have plans to return to Australia for Splendour In The Grass and their own headline shows. Fingers crossed!

HOT CHIP (UK)

Last toured: 2014 (DJ), 2013 (Live)

Rumour validation: Another band who have released some great new music following quite a large drought, HOT CHIP are certainly no strangers to Splendour, having played the festival in 2007 and 2010. The band love Australia and we can't see them returning for anything else other than SITG, to play songs off their new album which is due out soon.

ROYKSOPP (NOR)

Last toured: 2012

Rumour validation: After their cancellation of Falls Festival 2014/15, we believe Secret Sounds didn't hesitate to ask the Norwegian duo to perform at Splendour In The Grass instead.

MARK RONSON (UK)

Last toured: 2015 (DJ), 2011 (Live)

Rumour validation: It's always a good sign when the organisers of a festival host a “promo gig” for an artist six months before the main event. In early February, MARK RONSON played a special DJ set to a sold out crowd at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney to support his latest album 'Uptown Special'. In the past, Secret Sounds have given similar hints when they put on standalone shows for artists such as SKY FERREIRA, DEEP VALLEY and more. Hopefully this means he is locked in to headline the festival with a full band on this occasion. Imagine how awesome it would be to experience 'Daffodils' live with Kevin Parker.

ROYAL BLOOD (UK)

Last toured: 2015

Rumour validation: With ROYAL BLOOD playing exclusively on this year's Laneway Festival bill and the band just being announced to play Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, there's a very good chance we'll see them back in Australia again for Splendour.

Our other predictions for 2015 include:

THE WOMBATS (UK)

LANA DEL REY (USA)

(DEN)

PURITY RING (CAN)

RYAN ADAMS (USA)

We also (like the rest of Australia) found the clue/leak today, that shed light on what could be part of the lineup. Thanks to an accidental (or perhaps) deliberately posted Spotify playlist. You can see a screengrab of part of the playlist before it was deleted below:
