The Vaults’ original is an emotional pop song – Jacques Greene makes emotive electronica. The remix works.

The track’s melodic roots remain, but they’ve added an interesting drum sequence layered over the top courtesy of the producer. He ever so slightly distorts the vocals so that the track develops a grainy low-fi quality.
It’s a 2 step remix that’s got the same distinctively jittery defiance against a uniform four on the floor pulse that we’ve come to associate with Greene. the remix syncopates and shuffles alongside Blythe’s trilling ethereal vocals. Greene’s sound calls up the melodic melancholy of Problems or the rumbling bass heavy style of Null; the remix has some really engulfing moments and holds onto the intimate core of the original.
The London trio have released a 4-track remix EP of their music, called… Remixed. As well as Jacques Greene’s effort, we’ve got a strong set of cuts from Maya Jane Coles, Hippie Sabotage and Spor.
