Splendour In The Grass Memories: Joyride, Benson, Dugong Jr, Set Mo, Mike Who
You probably already know we contacted a bunch of our favourite Australian artists from the lineup to get their ‘Best Splendour Memory’ and artist picks. We’ve already heard from people like Flight Facilities, I’lls and Japanese Wallpaper.
We’re continuing the Splendour In The Grass Memory series with instalment number two, where we talk to some of the biggest DJ names from this years bill! They all had ridiculous stories to share with us.
Best Splendour Memory: Years ago, shrooming so hard that I didn’t play my set in the JagerCube. Big moment. Also shout outs to Hayden James who I’m pretty sure covered for me. Sick cunt. I promise it won’t happen again, lol.
Artist Pick for 2015: Peking Duk, but more so for off field antics.
Best Splendour Memory: Last year I got a custom made shirt with Matt Preston’s head on it. I’d spent all week organising this shirt..When I got to the airport I’d realised that I had forgotten to pack it. After a number of phone calls, I got a friend to pick it up from my house in Melbourne and bring it up to Splendour. We met 5 mins before our set, I collected the shirt. Spirits where high. Morale was through the roof. 10 mins into my set I took my shirt off cause I’m a legend, unfortunately some drunk dickhead girl jumped up on the stage and stole the shirt. I want that shirt back you bitch. Sick night though.
Artist Pick for 2015: There are so many awesome acts playing but I’m keen to see Joyride perform on mushrooms.
Best Splendour Memory: Getting wasted with the bog dog, Tranter, and then watching an unexpected Gameboy/Gamegirl reunion unfold before my eyes during his set at Splendour in 2010.
Artist Pick for 2015: EARLLL <3
SET MO (Nick)
Best Splendour Memory: Last year I got to see Art Vs Science live for the first time and I was completely blown away. Their performance and stage presence is crazy. By the end of the show they’re all half naked, covered in sweat and have left a small part of themselves on stage as they put in everything they’ve got!
Artist Pick for 2015: Very much looking forward to Mark Ronson performing his latest album live!
Best Splendour Memory: Watching cooked people rolling down that steep hill at the main stage last year. Kato‘s daily updates and observations. Acts wise, Dizz 1 going in on the footwork vibes and Remi killing it to a full tent on the RBMA stage. Buraka Som Sistema rinsed out the Mix Up Tent and Kelis was on point with the band.
Artist Pick for 2015: Earl Sweatshirt and Mark Ronson.
Our final instalment of Splendour Memories comes in very soon!
