Channeling some Mr Carmack vibes here, TROYBOI has dropped something within his new track 'Wonky'.

Channeling some Mr Carmack vibes here, TROYBOI has dropped something huge.

Titled ‘Wonky’, it’s trap, experimental and world music all thrown into one huge glass, shaken and best served cold.

It’s rather eclectic for a producer to utilise world music within their sounds, most particularly in dance music. I think my favourite recent use of it has been in Bjork’s DJ set for Triangle Records’ birthday. But it’s always been this enigma that people are almost afraid to touch for some reason.

TroyBoi’s gone above and beyond, spreading his sound outside of the box and into the arms of eager fans.

Production wise, this track is definitely a banger. The trap element of it is on point, with the crisp hi-hat tapping its way through the hook and the experimental element taking shape in the eclectic use of the synth. It’s warped at times, played down at times, but best of all, there’s that undulating background synth that pulses deeply in time with the more overt layers.

TroyBoi’s done something so unique and eclectic here, and ‘Wonky’ is definitely one for a huge night out.
