Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: Martin King

When he's not doing his thing in The Harpoons, Martin King is busy at work with his solo project.

Having already delivered a fantastic remix for his ol' Oscar + Martin counterpart, Oscar Key Sung recently, as well as dropping a pair of singles with Juliet Rowe, 'Guilt Trip' and the freshly released 'PGF' (which you can stream below) - King is quickly becoming one of the more sought after acts in his native Melbourne, and now the rest of the country is paying attention.

He'll be bringing his live show to Sydney clubnight TAXX tomorrow night to celebrate the release of 'Guilt Trip', and will be headlining the regular event. Anatole and Pink Frost will also be there, as well as a secret guest, so you know it's going to be one hell of a night.

To help get you even more excited about his launch, Martin gave us an insight into his extensive and eclectic music taste by jumping on SoundCloud Wrap duties this week!

Had the pleasure of playing this one to a room full of sweaty writhing naked people (shouts to the guys at Deep Soulful Sweats) one time. Heavy Matrix Reloaded rave cave vibes. Definitely worth checking out friendships live show in order to cop the full experience of Mish’s deeply amazing visuals too.

Mind:Body:Fitness 'Taken'

Phoebe is a producer working out of Berlin, who I happened to go to sound design school with years ago. I hadn’t heard anything from her in ages and then was totally mind blown by this one when I stumbled upon her sound cloud. Its a bit of an old one, but all her stuff is very worth checking out. Pumped to see she’s killing it, copping recognition from the Red Bull folks and the people at CTM.

Naughty Boy 'Home' Ft Sam Romans (Friend Within Remix)

Think I shazamed this one over a neighbour's fence one time when they were having a party. Definitely worth looking like a creep, standing on a planter box craining to hold my phone up over the fence to get this one.

Zuri Akoko 'Chapter 3'

Only got onto Zuri Akoko recently when she and I were both featured on an Oscar Key Sung remix EP. This is one of her brand new EP and it's hot! Love the techno meets ambient sound design meets two step shuffle vibe.

Felicity Yang 'Atmos'

I often feel like giving up music because there are so many incredible tracks being made that it's hard to feel relevant. This track gives me that feeling lol. Felicity is the best.

DJ Lycox 'Underground'

This one is off my one of my favourite labels Principe Records from Portugal. The way Lycox combines a sound palette of modern house and dance music with super raw kuduro rhythms is full on.
