18 August 2015 | 10:35 am | Tom Hutchins

In honour of the release, we asked Moss what it was like to live in Chicago for a Hometown Guide. He obliged, and gave us the following fast food theme...

Coming off the back of a single that "created a sonic landscape that slowly intensifies" Chicago based, GILLIGAN MOSS, has released a debut EP and is quickly becoming one of the world's most in demand producers.

Ceremonial EP offers a darker, more propulsive side of Gilligan Moss, with an intricate patchwork of samples, blips and bleeps all adding to the inherent drama of the track. It showcases Moss’ effortless versatility, as well as his inimitable way with an infectious hook.

In honour of the release, we asked Moss what it was like to live in Chicago for a Hometown Guide. He obliged, and gave us the following theme...

"Food that will get you fat -- I selected my five favorite Chicago restaurants that will fatten you up:"

Gilligan-Moss-1

Big & Little's - 860 N. Orleans St

Everything here is incredible -- they are known for their soft shell crab po'boy, but I think the fish tacos are the move. I don't even really like fish, but if it's from Big and Little's I'll go to town.

Harold's Chicken - 1208 E 53rd St

I went to school in Hyde Park from K-12, and Harold's was a constant part of my life either for lunch or after school. Hands down the best fried chicken in the world.

Athenian Room - 807 W Webster Ave

You have to order the chicken dinner with wet fries. They cover all their dishes in this weird oily oregano sauce - it is crack.

gilligan-moss-4

Pizza Metro - 1707 West Division Street

I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for saying this, but deep dish pizza is overrated. If you want good pizza in Chicago, go to Pizza Metro.

Any grease joint with a Vienna Beef sign hanging outside

Of all the food Chicago is known for, our hot dogs are what I've found to be miles better than any other place in the world. All over the city you'll find little grease joints with Vienna Beef signs hanging out front. Any place that has this sign will know how to make a proper Chicago dog... charred, poppy seed buns, a shit load of toppings, mustard, and absolutely NO ketchup.

Gilligan Moss' debut EP, Ceremonial, is out now via AMF/Caroline Australia.
