LANE 8 brings a Temper Trap-ish vibe to his remix of Walking Shapes’ 2014 single ‘In The Wake’.

LANE 8 brings a Temper Trap-ish vibe to his remix of Walking Shapes’ 2014 single ‘In The Wake’.

Lane 8, aka Daniel Goldstein, has kept the energetic feel of the original track, but transfers the driving force from the rocky guitar to a house drumbeat with futuristic loops and minor chords.

He strips back the mid-section to accentuate lead singer Nathaniel Hoho’s raspy vocals, picking out hooks and interesting lines looping them and plying with the song’s structure. Like all good remixes, the essence of the song is still there, but it’s been distorted and jazzed up to be more party appropriate. The ‘In The Wake’ remix is a slow builder at nearly six and a half minutes long, but the punky crux of the band’s original, which Lane 8 honours well, keeps it interesting.

The 26-year old German-based DJ has just released his new album Rise via Anjunadeep, the English deep house label. The remix comes ahead of a further three other excellent remixes of Walking Shapes’ track ‘Feel Good’ which has been reworked by Jonas LR, FRZN and Z A N D A, out now.
