Launching his debut EP Silence & Remorse earlier this year, Luis Dourado AKA PURPLE, has released a dark and brooding video for the splintering track ‘Let Me Stay’.

Hailing from Portugal, Purple bases himself in underground music Mecca, Berlin. Currently the only European representative of the WEDIDIT Collective, He began making music while on a family holiday as a teenager. Like so many creative minds, he cites loneliness and boredom as his original muse. This inspiration is evident throughout ‘Let Me Stay’, and the video, which tells a twisted tail of two lovers.

Featuring layered vocals and minimalistic, electronic, percussion the main beat of 'Let Me Stay' is a sound kind of like static on a bad phone call. The track is driven by the percussion sounds, along with a simple set of notes from what sounds like a muted xylophone. The track progresses to feature piercing strings, blended to a sound that is somewhere between menacing and haunting. It suits the ominous nature of the clip. You get a sense of impending doom from the visual provided by the clip, however you can interpret the sound in a different way, but no matter how you do you can always feel a sense of loneliness from 'Let Me Stay'.

The clip reminds you of a Romeo and Juliet-esque doomed love story….or maybe something that will end up on Law and Order SVU. There is passion in the progression of the sound, but also a level of confusion, which is portrayed in the video. The video for ‘Let Me Stay’ compliments the sounds created by Purple perfectly as it builds to a point almost reminiscent of the irrational feelings that take hold as your emotions get the better of you.

Silence & Remorse is out now on iTunes.
