Live Review: Xanga 'Get Outta My Dreams'

22 September 2015 | 1:06 pm | Hannah Galvin

Adelaide dude, Xanga has announced the release of his forthcoming EP. As we wait upon its arrival, scope its opening track, 'Get Outta My Dreams'.

If you're into the weird and wonderful, you best place Adelaide talent, XANGA hot on your list. An indulgence of colourful percussion and cheeky melodies doused in Brazilian influence [with an unconventional twist], Xanga sits comfortably on the Multi Culti roster; the label in which he'll be releasing his forthcoming EP through. A three-track affair, its first taste comes in the form of, 'Get Outta My Dreams'.

Opening with a kiddy, countdown chant, a playful mood is set, initiating the fun that ensues in, 'Get Outta My Dreams'. Thrown into a lively jungle, the bellow of an inventive wild animal harps and squeals excitedly in the form of harps and whistles. Placed in the fitting habitat of a gentle bassline, sharp handclaps and sporadic pops and screeches whirling about, each element used harmonises with one another; crafting a vibrant playground of wonder and enchantment.

Although initially taken aback by the rejecting title, Xanga ironically invites us in with his soothing vocals and giant wall of sound. Confirming our environment with an anonymous historic recount of the jungle, we appreciate its sublimity, and envision standing in the thick of it all; thanking Xanga for his technical appropriation of our world's natural wonders.
