Live Review: R.W. Grace 'All The Friends I Lost'

9 November 2015 | 1:00 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

R.W. Grace has got a new one out called 'All The Friends I Lost', and this one's definitely bound to cause a storm.

Already setting herself up for a huge 2016, R.W. GRACE has had more than her fair share of experiencing a hurricane-like existence.

Her sounds are enough to sweep you off your feet and carry you upwards and onwards. Anchored by a clean production, her vocals are eclectic in a non-traditional sense. She's got a new one out called 'All The Friends I Lost', and this one's definitely bound to cause a storm.

She plays with nuances in the tone of her voice, and this comes across most effectively in the way she pronounces words and accentuates the syllables behind them.

She reminds me very much of Lorde, but there's more of a bounciness in the production. The plucked strings in this one really make this one feel punchy, but they really strip it back when they go legato and play long, drawn out notes rather than staccato blips.

It's definitely not traditional pop, but there certainly are elements there. R.W. has been smart with the choice of instrumentation in this one, and it's definitely reflected in the mood.

Pair that with her killer vocals, and you've got yourself an eclectic and dynamic piece such as this one.

R.W. Grace's EP Love It Need It Miss It Want It will be out November 20.
