Live Review: Learn to love the saxophone with Oisima on 'Grover's Lament'

Adelaide beatmaker Oisima returns with a new single, 'Grover's Lament', from his 2015 album, 'Nicaragua Nights', and we're so glad he's back!

Adelaide beatmaker OISIMA has been on our radar for a while now. A quiet achiever, his world music grooves and hip-hop oriented beats are a refreshing reprieve from the generic, stock-standard takes on dance music and his latest single, 'Grover's Lament' is one of his best yet.

Taken from his debut album, Nicaragua Nights, that was released last year, 'Grover's Lament' is more than just a song. It's a journey. Meditative, warm, lush and sprawling, Oisima creates an entire soundscape with this one - and it's a soundscape we can't help but get lost in.

Soulful vocal cuts, synth swirls, some outstanding saxophone talents courtesy of ADAM PAGE, a whole cacophony of beats - 'Grover's Lament' is as lush as it is intricate. It's a testimony not only to how talented Oisima is, but also how far he's come and what he is truly capable of.

Oisima has been keeping fans' interests piqued with talk of extending his live show from just him to an all-out ten piece show. Whilst he's only played one gig in that form, we can't help our eagerness at the hope that he may bring it on the road with him. Until then however, we have Nicaragua Nights and we can't recommend it enough.
