Live Review: Two People are more than just 'Fading' with this debut

18 February 2016 | 9:14 am | Madeline Kilby

The old adage of ‘never fear’ has a place, as two Snakadaktal members have re-joined forces under the name TWO PEOPLE and released their debut, ‘Fading’.

The demise of Snakadaktal probably bought some tears to eyes here and there, mainly because never again would people be able to go to a gig that somehow combined snacks with dinosaurs. But now the old adage of ‘never fear’ has a place, as two members have re-joined forces under the name TWO PEOPLE and released their debut track, ‘Fading’.

Two People consists of Phoebe Lou and Joey Clough. They have obviously long ago established their musical synthesis, however their sound deviates significantly from Snakadaktal’s.

Phoebe Lou provides some very deep, and almost spiritual vocals. Combined with percussion driven, gentle background loops of guitar and some grittier sounds.

‘Fading’ is both haunting and warm. The vocals provide the caution emotionally, while the music itself feels like long, warm summer nights slowly getting shorter and colder as winter prepares to take over.

This new project is definitely something to keep an eye on. Their sounds have matured, and yet all fans of Snakadaktal should be excited.

‘Fading’ is out now through Liberation Music.
