'A Saturday we won't forget' - reflecting on Purple Sneakers Tenth Birthday | Purple Sneakers

Now that we return to our day-to-day lives we're reminded of a Saturday night that we'll never forget. Our Tenth Birthday event had been an extremely long time coming for us, and you guys went all out to help us celebrate / destroy The Lord Gladstone. We couldn't have done this without you all!!

We had stage invaders, a record number of fence jumpers, a couple of nude lads 'sword fighting'. Johann from I OH YOU ended up crowd surfing at 3am and half the courtyard helped us tear the marquee down. We had so many people jumping in the bandroom that we were scaring punters on the bottom floor (we blame Nico Ghost for that); the front-room was turned into a mosh pit because of the ripping sets from Ariane, FlexMami, Stoney Roads, Astral DJs et al; and the courtyard was kept nice and cosy thanks to Linda Marigliano, Luen, Kato etc.

We saw the next phase of Australian live music with insane sets from World Champion, Tashka, Mezko, Dual Point, Lastlings. And Moonbase Commander, Indian Summer, Stephane 1993, Wordlife proved their the next leaders of the club scene. Representing emerging talent and new music has always been our goal, and it's what keeps us going.

We hope that our Birthday event not only helped prove the potenial our scene has, but also helps get you all out there, supporting the amazingly talented people that helped us party hard, without them we wouldn't have such a vibrant music scene. Without the community that we're all a part of, Purple Sneakers would never have existed, nor would it have made it to ten years. Please continue to be as brilliant as all our attendees were on Saturday: keep supporting each other, keep partying hard, keep representing the true Sydney.
