After releasing the track ‘Heavens’ Melbourne’s CHRISTOPHER PORT dropped the release date for his hotly anticipated EP, Vetement. And just like that the EP is magically here, and to make things even more exciting, he also dropped a pretty snazzy video for ‘Heavens’ to celebrate.

Released through Pleater via Intertia, Port started out proving his talent as a producer, percussionist, and then suddenly showed himself as a triple threat by dropping vocalist into that mix as well. Vetement is the end product of a years worth of work, with each song aiming to create a certain mood through exploration of interesting harmonies, rhythm, keyboard and making reference to a tonne of different styles like UK Garage, techno, house and more (it’s a fun game to listen to the EP and pick out the influences you can hear).

The 5 track EP was about more than just throwing sounds together and feeling a mood, Christopher Port literally put each mood he wanted into play. Take the track ‘Before’ ft. Airling as an example. As each mix was made he would jump in the car late at night and drive around playing it to make sure the track reflected the late night driving mood.

The video for ‘Heavens’ is something different for your eyes. You can see a sweet alternative fashion designer playing it as the background to their show, as the footage and song combined would make an amazing sensory explosion. Put together by Port’s friends Hamish Mitchell and David McKinnar the video features an array of colours and fabrics, textures and dance combined to reflect the wider influences of the entire Vetement EP.
