Live Review: Mild High Club turns old-fashioned with the clip to, 'Skiptracing'

24 August 2016 | 10:11 am | Hannah Galvin

LA psych band, Mild High Club, anticipate the release of their Skiptracing LP by gifting us the visual aid to the record's title track.

Mild High Club

Ahead of the release of Skiptracing, LA's MILD HIGH CLUB have pushed out the clip to its title track. Benevolent in its concept, 'Skiptracing' has been shot and directed by the brains behind the band - Alexander Brettin.

A reminiscent guitar dribbles over a stark drum machine, counteracted by the thick harmonic vocals led by Alexander Brettin. Soundtracking a short film of the lost & found, our persona "skiptraces" an old pal along the seaside with what would otherwise be a metal detector. Persistent in his search, his precious metal leaves the hustle and bustle of a drab urban environment, for a shared dance among the warm sand.

Employing a vast range of percussive elements to enhance the colouring of this affable moment, we're simultaneously treated to visuals of freshly picked flowers, drawn lovehearts and the sway of the ocean.

Documented at large with an antiquated camera, the gentle fuzz of this hazy clip reminds us to appreciate the simple joys in life.

'Skiptracing' is the title track taken from Mild High Club's forthcoming record, available this Friday, 26th August via Stones Throw.
