Live Review: Tiber soars with his new, thumping single 'Wings'

16 November 2016 | 8:39 am | Jackson Langford

This week marks the launch of Moonbase Commander's record label - Trench Records - and our first taste is as delicious as it could possibly get. It comes in the form of the first cut of TIBER's Self Control EP, 'Wings.'

The Geelong-based producer has a refreshing fearlessness when it comes to diving head-first into a variety of genres, as he bounces playfully between the realms of trap, hip-hop and jungle - just to name a few - and 'Wings' puts that ability right on centre-stage. Tiber milks every moment, making for three-and-a-half minutes of overflowing energy and breathless, sonic moments.

"This EP is definitely influenced by the need to take control of certain aspects of life and not let them take over, be it work or play. It's kind of a raw, basic human thing that needs to be done and these songs are a reflection of that," says Tiber of the up-coming EP, which is being released Friday 18 November. He also mixed and mastered the EP himself, which gives you comfort that this is well and truly his vision.

Apparently, Tiber is an excellent indication of what we can expect from Moonbase Commander's newly-launched label. "Tiber is at the forefront of a burgeoning wave of Australian producers that are pushing the envelope between the worlds of hip hop and bass music, which perfectly encapsulates everything Trench is about.”
