Live Review: Arona Mane ushers in a new era of house in 'POTGS'

21 December 2016 | 8:49 am | Steve Copp

House music is charging ahead as one of EDM's powerhouse sub-genres, Arona Mane's newest track 'POTGS' is helping lift the genre to new heights.

In the Soundcloud age we live in, elegant examples of house wizardry haven't been hard to find, but the products that have stretched boundaries and pushed the genre into the forefront of EDM are the special gems that only come once in a blue moon. Maintaining house music's legacy for being one of the most expansive, exploratory branches of EDM in 2016, the newest edition from Sydney producer ARONA MANE is a feel good banger for a changing music community.

'POTGS' aka "Pass Over That Good Shit" houses a beat that can't take no for an answer. It boasts a full-bodied production through the high end of the track, welcoming you in for the good vibrations to come. The incredibly skilful Sydney producer has packed all of the good vibes at his disposal into this neatly trimmed house odyssey; fitting all the sounds of a European house party into 3 minutes of mastery and then submerging the production deep into the unknown in this display of forward momentum from Mane. Fellow Sydney local MILAN offers the dreamiest of cameos, further enforcing the grooves grip on you.

The risk and reward of this song is balanced beautifully upon Mane's ability to produce a track that's just house enough to groove out to, and just different enough to inspire. The young house producers of 2016 continuing to push each other into the house sounds of 2017, are what births a track like 'POTGS'. While some artists can get so excited to swing that they miss, Mane is right on the mark with this newie.

A new-wave of house is upon us and Arona Mane is riding it all the way in. With more hits than misses, the local talent has an impressive collection of electronica for such a fresh raw sound. While there is almost an 100% chance of Arona Mane's greatest vision still being birthed within the soundbite samurai's mind, 'POTGS' can stand alone with any house offerings that have been said to have pushed the EDM culture forward. It continues the tradition of innovation in this post-modern counter-culture turned social powerhouse.

While the best part of Arona Mane's music relevance still to come, the Sydney producer is one to watch. Mane's manifesto may not be how we thought the future would sound, but his reality of it is plenty good enough for us. Don't just take our word for it, go and lose yourself in the new (in every sense of the word) track from Arona Mane, 'POTGS'.
