Live Review: Oisima gifts us new ornate, deep-thinking track, 'I Will Find My Way'

23 December 2016 | 9:48 am | Hannah Galvin

Adelaide beatmaker Oisima has announced details of his second LP I Will Find My Way, accompanied by its stunning title track, featuring 30/70's Allysha Joy.

It's been some time between releases for Adelaide man Anth Wendt, and for very good reason. Last exhibiting his Oisima project in the form of 'The Winter Romance' mixtape from his eighth Jewels Of Thought instalment, we now know that he's been tucked away in his recording studio for eight months, meticulously working on his second full-length record, I Will Find My Way. Thrilled with the announcement, standards have been set at masterpiece level since experiencing the title track (featuring the vocals of 30/70 Collective's Allysha Joy).

Where there are so many styles of piano playing, the keys on the left hand side will always bestow a different attitude to that of the right. Facilitating the latter, a young melody acts upon its blatant curiosity, as it explores the territories of our aged world.

Mentored by the maturity of a discerning saxophone, our student and teacher take off into the soft-spoken city of workshopped synths and percussive sequences. Where our melody is immersed in innocence as it takes in new sights, you can't help but feel the underlying solemnity of our brass through the shape of its blow. Its junior soon cottoning on to the fact, 'I Will Find My Way' experiences a shift in dynamic that rings true to its name.

This world is not about following one who is more lived, it's about taking your own risks and setting a path reverent to your own values. As our piano falls into a clustered heap by the close of the track, it is simultaneously this pivotal moment that our brass retires and permits the true quest of life to unfold; allowing the keys to untangle once this important lesson is learnt as it prepares for its newfound hold on life.

Somewhat narrated by our vocalist Allysha Joy, it is her soulful husk that resonates with both characters depicted in the composition, allowing harmony in the completed piece, and decorating the song beautifully in substance and breath-taking execution.

An eloquent leading single to his second record, Oisima's 'I Will Find My Way' has set up a luminous prospect for what his future of artistry holds. With the album to be released mid-2017, the title track will soon be available as a free digital download. Keep an eye out!
