Live Review: Premiere: Mikey Hunj goes dark on remix of Yo Gotti's 'Castro'

Premiere: Take a listen as Mikey Hunj dives deeper and darker with his remix of Yo Gotti's 'Castro".

MIKEY HUNJ is a man of many talents. A Melbourne-based producer and DJ, you may have seen him on stage at an Allday gig or heard his recent genre-blurring EP, Aurora Gang. With a steady and impressive output over recent months that show him consistently pushing himself and his sound, he leaves us wondering - what can't he do?

The latest release from one of Melbourne's best is a remix of Yo Gotti's 'Castro', with Mikey Hunj exploring a darker side to his trap sound. What we love about Mikey Hunj is that his sound is always evolving. We already know he's been killing it lately, from a bouncy trap spin on a Young Thug track with fellow Melbourne producer headstone, to an impressive, melancholic single titled 'Belly Up' with Steena, but this remix really stands out above the rest.

The 'Castro' remix sees Hunj playing around with the pitch of vocals, adding metallic sounds and adding that iconic jersey bass line - so this is definitely one for the Saturday night playlist. Take a listen below, you may even hear a cheeky sampling from the queen herself - JLo!

Coming off a stellar EP with Aurora Gang, the 'Castro' remix really shows the diversity and range of production skills that Hunj possesses. This darker, heavier sound is just the fire we need to keep us warm this winter season, and if you need to hear some more, you can check out the remix he did for mate Allday's 'Codeine 17' here. We love all that Mikey Hunj is about and can't wait to see what he'll surprise us with next.
