15 June 2017 | 10:02 pm | Natalie Turner

Your favourite musical fairy and beloved, earthy wild-child WOODES is back, delivering a fresh re-worked sound compiled of some pretty powerful beats.

Everyone’s favourite musical woodland fairy and beloved, earthy wild-child WOODES (aka Elle Graham) is back and she’s delivering a fresh, re-worked sound combined with some pretty powerful beats.

But, before we get into this ripper of a track its important to pay homage to the progressive and continuous talent that she effortlessly pours into each and every release. Her debut self-titled EP that was so graciously gifted to us last year, sky rocketed the charts and left her with a shining reputation of talent.

Racking in over 3 million streams to date, her EP scored in the top 20 iTunes charts in 7 countries including #1 in the Singapore Alternative Album charts and her single, ‘Rise,’ clocked in at over 1.3 million streams on Spotify alone, so it was inevitable that we fell head over heels in love with her latest track, ‘Run For It’.

Continuing her pattern of excelling with new sounds, this artist has filled her new track with a little more punch than usual, straying from her signature angelic array of music and adding some fresh instrumentals that we haven’t yet heard from her.

Woodes has enlisted a bunch of tribal-like samples and powerful percussive crossfades to truly secure the track, and herself at the top of the musical hierarchy. She’s developed the track in understanding a person's true nature, using a powerful message to create an even more powerful composition. “The lyrics stem from accepting things being within the nature of certain people or genders," Woodes says. “From being called out from cars, to men expecting women to act a certain way depending on how they are dressed… A warning. Signifying things are changing.”

Woodes confidently places her vocals on display as they shift over the top of an echoing choir, capturing the essence of liberation and empowerment. Its production is fluent but structured so perfectly you can immediately begin to take in not only the lyrics but the kick-ass combination of samples and instruments. In Woodes style, she still provides us with her earthy, synth driven production but this time, it's paced in a way that leaves you breathless with its compelling execution. ‘Run For It’ is a track you should undoubtedly pick for your 7am morning start as it’ll leave you with a fierce spring in your step and a sense of confidence you need to conquer your day.

It's not just us Aussies that she has refuelled with confidence, having won the title for Best Australian Solo Act at the SXSW in Texas just a few months ago. So, with her new found praise, she’s set to light fires in fans across the country for her ‘Run For It’ Tour and you best be ready when she does! Check out the dates below for a city near you.
