Live Review: PREMIERE: The Kite Street Tangle and Tiana Khasi's stunning live rendition of 'The Prize'

13 July 2017 | 2:32 pm | Lloyd Crackett

In the lead up to The Kite String Tangle's debut album's release, TKST teamed up with Brisbane's own Tiana Khasi for a unique version of 'The Prize'

THE KITE STRING TANGLE's self-titled album has been a longtime coming, for not only Danny Harley who has been working on it for over 3 years but also fans worldwide who have been lapping up the incredible work he has been pumping out, all, always eager for more. So, in pure TKST fashion, Harley has gone ahead and recorded a more contemplative version of his latest single, 'The Prize'.

Teaming up with previous 'Stone Cold' collaborator and stellar artist in her own right, Tiana Khasi - Harley creates with the help of Dave Jenkins on drums, Ben Corbett on keys, Brodie McAllister on trombone and George Wilson on trumpet - a stunning rendition of 'The Prize'. Gone are the electronic elements, stripped away to focus on the vocal harmonies of Khasi and Harley. Quite simply, it's quite moving; their dual delivery of 'I want to be the prize your eyes are on' becomes shockingly heartfelt. The nuance that the more traditional instrumentation provides to the lyrics is wonderful. Harley and Khasi's ability to complement one another's vocal performances shows a great respect between the artists, yet they can shine in their own light. It's a track that begs a studio version, not only for the joy of fans everywhere but that some TV show will be begging to have it score something beautiful.

The video was shot in The Tivoli in Brisbane, directed by Allan Hardy and Cameron March with Hype Republic Productions.
