Live Review: Wallace and The Goods team up to turn Fortunes.' '501s' into a romper

24 August 2017 | 7:48 am | Lloyd Crackett

As part of Volumes 2017 remix series, Wallace and The Goods team up to turn Fortunes. 501s into an absolute romper of a track

If throwing one the coolest festivals wasn't enough, Volumes 2017 also comes with a remix series, throwing together some of the coolest artists from the line up to create the remixes from our dreams. First, we had Mezko taking Body Type for a glitched-out romp in the underground club. Then, Gauci took over Hatchie's shoegaze pop hit 'Try' and turned it into a disco hit. And finally, wrapping up the mini-series, it was time for the soulful tones of WALLACE and the groove of THE GOODS to turn Fortunes.' '501s' into something brand spankin' new.

Capitalising on the underpinning synths of the original, The Goods loop the beat back on itself providing Wallace the perfect template to lay her sultry and affecting vocals. Highlights include the inclusion of Fortunes.' "ooh ooh ooh" which was one of the original track's much loved quirks. Wallace takes the opportunity to work out on the track, impressing with her unbelievable vocal range, exercising her ability to whisper, rise and fall with ease. It's no wonder why she recently joined rising starts Winston Surfshirt on their Like A Version.

All three acts performed last weekend at Volumes 2017 however all have big years ahead of them. Wallace, having just wrapped up a national tour, will be playing the Fringe Ignite 2017 in Sydney on the 2nd of Sept. The Goods are hard at work at another release and Fortunes., even while touring this great country of ours, are hard at work recording tracks for a potential album.
