DJ Earl and the world of footwork on 'It Came From The Cloud'

9 September 2017 | 11:43 am | Staff Writer

This week on our regular radio segment entitled 'It Came From The Cloud' we're delving deep into the world of footwork and juke music.

Straight from the birthplace of the tectonic-shifting genre resides DJ Earl - heavyweight producer and also part of the esteemed Teklife crew which is home to Taso, DJ Spinn and the late DJ Rashad, just to name a few.

Chicago-based DJ Earl is known for his high-octane output and high-quality production that continually pushes the envelope of how footwork is perceived as a genre. His effortless and imaginative sample work is king here - from the producer's soulful 2013 EP, Blue Summer, to his collaborative 2016 EP with Oneohtrix Point Never (under the alias OPN) which focuses on more abstract-tinged techniques. All of this content goes to prove just how prolific DJ Earl is as a footwork producer.

No stranger to collaboration and sharing tunes with other outlets, DJ Earl has teamed up once again with London via Paris collective MOVELTRAXX (check out their 'Street Bangers Factory' compilations) to release a furiously smooth footwork edit of this year's 'How I Like It' by the legendary grime artist D Double E.
