Reimagining RnB with west1ne on It Came From The Cloud

3 November 2017 | 4:37 pm | Nick Luke

On this week's edition of It Came From The Cloud we're honing in on the fresh remixing skills of west1ne.

Hailing from New York, the beatsmith is well known around the corners of Soundcloud for his crunchy production style and keen ear for classic flips. Case and point is one of his latest tunes taking on Lloyd's 2007 hit, 'Get It Shawty'.

Swapping out the original instrumental with his own flavour, west1ne breathes new air into the 10 year-old track through a combination of odd percussions, sleek basslines and bouncing rhythms.

The track moves along, laying down Lloyd's soulful vocal tones as the anchor for the producer to play with the vibe. After the bulk of the flip has been delivered we're treated to a crazy switch up within the last minute where west1ne introduces sizzling horns over a half time beat that flexes that familiar 808 muscle.

The outcome is a fun reimagining on a classic slice of R&B. Get amongst the good vibes!
