Live Review: Lili Kendall's 'Lifetime' is a love song beyond her years

6 December 2017 | 9:55 am | Jackson Langford

It's always a little disorienting hearing maturity from a young artist, but more than anything it's a stark reality check: experience doesn't always mean quality, and age doesn't always mean wisdom. In the case of LILI KENDALL, the depth and richness of her voice bleeds out from every note in the amazing and hypnotic 'Lifetime.'

'Lifetime' sees Lili Kendall take a somewhat unconventional approach to a love song, but one that is still so relatable it's almost tangible. Her entrancing voice weaves lyrical genius in and out of the slow-burning, wispy melody. "You're a riddle / I'm a haiku / and for this lifetime / I'd like to solve you," she sings beautifully, ready and willing to devote her life to getting to know someone until there's nothing more to know. It's a level of commitment seldom seen in our millennial world, but that's why Lili Kendall is so refreshing.

With every ounce of love and adoration and vulnerability she breathes into the song, there's an intimate, timeless honesty that glows from beyond. It's the type of exposure that is innate for us as humans to hide, but with a brave face and open arms, Kendall is offering her love to ride this out with her. And honestly, why wouldn't you? As she puts it herself, "the passenger seat's got a view."
