Live Review: Tiana Khasi's debut single 'Nuketown' is as honest as it is spellbinding

We don't know if any fears were present when TIANA KHASI decided on releasing 'Nuketown', but she needn't have worried - she nailed it.

Releasing a debut single can be scary. You want it to be a decent reflection of who you are as an artist, but you still want people to vibe with it. You want to set yourself apart from the pack, but you still want to remain true to who you are. We don't know if any of those fears were present when TIANA KHASI decided on releasing 'Nuketown', but she needn't have worried - she nailed it.

'Nuketown' sounds refreshingly different but also intrinsically familiar. It's a beautifully understated song that centres Tiana Khasi's stunning vocal performance as the star. The way her delicate voice rides the minimal production does justice to them both. There is something so honest about the way she sings the barbed lyrics of the song - "prepare for your demise" - that you can't help but love how self-assured she is.

But just because Khasi's vocals are undoubtedly the star of 'Nuketown', that doesn't mean the masterful production of SAMPOLOGY doesn't deserve love either. He holds back the perfect amount, but still uses what he does to maximum effectiveness. Like a river flowing in a quiet forest, the production doesn't overwhelm you but you know it's there. Couple that with a rolling drum meter and intricate chimes, and 'Nuketown' is the debut single we didn't know we needed.
