Live Review: Taiki Nulight finds a way to pair dark beats with dancefloor sensibilities on his guest mix

7 November 2018 | 11:24 am | Caitlin Medcalf

He's been kicking it for about six years now, so it's exciting to hear that UK's TAIKI NULIGHT is coming on out with his debut record. He's been synonymous with house, UK garage and bass music for a while now, making his mark as both a DJ and producer.

His record Murky Manor will be out on November 9 through AC Slater's Night Bass imprint.

Spanning 11 tracks, the record sees Nulight explore a number of different dark, bassy sounds and genres that have made his sound as unique and recognisable as it is today. His world is displayed as shadowy and haunting, and that's reflected in the most danceable way possible through this body of work.

We've been given a glimpse into this record through the single's aptly titled 'Night Bass Thing'. It's a collaboration with the Night Bass boss himself, AC Slater, and it is a certified club banger. Teeming with all of those dark, driving bass lines, synthy stabs and pitched down vocals, it's defined by its bounciness and unleashed through its raw, crunchy breakdown.

The record will see him teaming up with a bunch of stand-out collaborators including Chris LorenzoCause n EffectDread MC and more.

To celebrate the upcoming release of the record, he put together a mini-mix for us that sees him encompass that gritty, haunting bass music he's become rather recognised for. It's filled to the brim with absolute bangers, so do yourself a favour and throw down to this one at your next party.

Purple Sneakers on FBi Radio runs every Saturday night from 5PM-6PM AEDT. Tune in each week at 94.5FM, DAB+ or online at fbiradio.com.
