Artists to Watch in 2019: Ninajirachi
A Jirachi is a steel/psychic Pokemon that hibernates for most of the year and that grants wishes when it wakes. A NINAJIRACHI however, is a young producer from the Central Coast who’s optimistic production and eclectic tastes are set to lead a huge year ahead.
After gaining national and global notoriety for her glistening debut singles released as she was graduating high school, this year she’s found a strength in her unique vision alongside strong collaborators and vocalists. Ninajirachi has released a slew of solid singles like ‘Warm Fire Lighting’, ‘Pathetic’ and ‘Gardenia’, and over these releases, she has refined her sound and approach to a style of musical pointillism. Loading up layers of sharp little samples and fine details that when put together, make one lush club track.
Her fresh perspective on club composition caught the eye of fellow Australian dance music Nina and head of NLV Records, Nina Las Vegas. After collaborating on Las Vegas‘ electric ‘Thursdays’ Ninajirachi was signed to the imprint, now sharing a platform with some of the most forward thinking dance music producers in the game.
This year she’s brought her DJ sets to festivals like Listen Out, Mountain Sounds, This That, Falls Festival and Groovin’ The Moo along with supporting MALLRAT on her national tour and playing the Sydney leg of the NLV Records parties. Everyone wants a piece of her eclectic sets that blend future pop, idiosyncratic club and woozy trap beats.
After a year of signing to one of our countries most promising club labels, releasing plenty of bright bops and playing some of the biggest festivals on the circuit, we can feel that her forthcoming EP Laplander is going to bring her even more acclaim in 2019.
