Live Review: PREMIERE: Sophiya oozes confidence in her self-directed 'White Ivory' clip

14 February 2019 | 10:22 am | Caitlin Medcalf

Towards the end of last year, we covered a hectic debut from an artist out of Melbourne by the name of SOPHIYA. Exuding nothing but fierce confidence, 'White Ivory' is defined by her rapid-fire wordplay and a thumping, simplistic beat that straight away takes you away to the likes of Leikeli47.

She's back in 2019 with a clip to accompany the track. Shot with Brayden at Fun Films, the video embodies all of that sassiness that exudes from the track, and she's enlisted the help of a bunch of her pals to do it.

Voguing, mood lighting and a variety of fire costume changes sees Sophiya move through the streets, a party and a variety of scenes out in the daylight too. It's the perfect way to celebrate the track, and it's sick to see that Sophiya oozes that same confidence and outwardness that the track embodies.

Of the clip she says:

"Before I released White Ivory, I promised myself that if I ever got more than 10,000 streams on Spotify I would have to make a music video for it. One month and 30,000 streams later, I met up with Brayden (Fun Films) and we began to bounce ideas for the video.

A non-negotiable for this music video was my friend July Stewart and his talented voguing dance moves. If you don’t know what voguing is, google it! The moves are super sassy and truly embody White Ivory’s bad bitch energy. It was also very important for me to represent a LGBTQ friendly vibe through the visuals of this song and July really made all of that possible."
