BIGSOUND announce 2019 dates, venues & enhanced program

8 April 2019 | 9:02 am | Staff Writer

Australia's biggest annual music conference, BIGSOUND, is back for another year. The conference will be returning to Brisbane's Fortitude Valley Live Music Precinct from September 3-6. It has been revealed today that this year's theme is 'The Artist As CEO'.

What that means is that this year's event will focus on the new industry reality where artists are now truly at the centre of the industry. In this current social and economic climate, artists have adapted to make empowered creative and business choices surrounding their artistry.

BIGSOUND will also be moving the conference aspect of the event from the Judith Wright Centre to Cloudland, providing expanded conference facilities right in the heart of the live music precinct.

BIGSOUND's executive programmer Maggie Collins said “Over the years, BIGSOUND has changed, with networking, workshops and other events becoming far more integral to the event, so making the move to Cloudland will give more programming flexibility as well as bringing the conference events closer to the live music that is at the heart of BIGSOUND.”

BIGSOUND Tech will be making its return this year, running for the conference's entire length, giving tech entrepreneurs the ability to showcase, as well as gain access to greater market feedback, training and support. You can apply to be part of BIGSOUND Tech today at bigsound.org.au.

Artist applications for BIGSOUND Festival are also open today. This year's festival will provide three nights of showcases with over 150 artists from across the country and world, playing in front of the Australian global music industry. BIGSOUND has previously launched careers for alumni including FlumeRUFUS DU SOL and heaps more.

If you're wanting to pursue a career in music as an artist, this is a great place to start. Applications for BIGSOUND Festival are open at www.bigsound.org.au.

For those who have attended before, BIGSOUND's 'Hook Up' sessions will be expanded on this year. The feature allows for artists and those in the industry to connect through deeper one-on-one face time. This year's conference will see even more international delegates and decision-makers come through than ever before, so this is a great op for artists to not only hear from international influencers, but for them to hear from you too.

Special rate purple passes for entry to the full BIGSOUND experience are on sale from today.
