Nyxen's 'Insomnia' clip is a retro-futuristic dream, complete with a slick old Mercedes. She's given us a peek into the making of the clip right here.

A couple of weeks back, NYXEN shared a clip to accompany her new track, 'Insomia', set to be featured on her forthcoming album.

The retro-futuristic track copped an apt clip, featuring a slick old Mercedes, reminiscent of James Blake's 'If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead' clipNyxen drives the clip through the hazy, lone darkness, the perfect depiction of what is a Blade Runner-esque sound.

She's given us a sneaky inside look into the filming of the clip, which saw her team up with Babekuhl and Teel. Take a read of her recount and check out the gallery below:

"I started working on my latest track 'Insomnia' back in July, 2018. I tend to take my time with tracks, building and reinventing them over time until I stumble upon something that I can’t pull myself away from.

Last year I found myself obsessing over this concept of Retro Futurism and writing music for a specific world, one that’s super dark and reminiscent of those featured in Cyberpunk movies like Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell and Total Recall.

'Insomnia' is the first taste of this sonic world, my aim was to throw the listener into a space where they could feel the emotion of the track through its instrumental and be transported briefly into this world I’ve created in my head.

For the film clip, we teamed up with Babekuhl and Teel who I’ve been working with for a long time now. They’re both insanely talented crews and it’s such an honour being able to work with them to bring Nyxen into the visual world.

With the clip, we wanted to focus on the personal experience of 'Insomnia', a solitary time of frustration and daze. It’s a simple idea enhanced by the talent of the teams working on it. The car shots were my favourite to film because I got to drive a killer old Mercedes around and as a lover of old cars, that was a total vibe.

The slow motion you see was probably the hardest part because we had to speed the track up to 240 BPM, so I was running and singing chipmunk styles haha but it came out looking super, super cool."
