Jamie XX headlines No Coal Zone, a Sydney climate change fundraiser

Jamie XX, The Avalanches and Midnight Juggernauts are headlining No Coal Zone, a Sydney event aiming to raise money and awareness for climate change action on Saturday March 14.

The one-night event will be taking place at the Hordern Pavillion this week, with all proceeds going towards Client Earth, an environmental law charity targeting government and polluting industries and Immersive Climate Action initiatives.

There will be DJ sets from UK producer Jamie XX, The Avalanches, Midnight Juggernauts, Heaps Gay and Friends, Ptwiggs, DeepFaith and a special 13 minute screening Jonathan Zawada x Mark Pritchard’s ‘The Four Worlds’.

Speaking about his involvement with the push to end coal power, Jamie xx explained, “I’ve spent a lot of time in Australia over the past decade and each time I come I’m inspired to make music. I’m always blown away by its awe-inspiring nature, the unrivalled friendliness of its people and the quality of its doofs. The loss it’s suffered has been a blow to people all around the world, so it felt only right to come back this year and help raise money through this party.”

“The work ClientEarth are doing to stop the building of future coal fired power stations will hugely cut the planet’s carbon emissions and will help to slow the devastating effects of global warming.”
