PREMIERE: Go on a trip with Bajillionaire’s new single, ‘Canadia’
Sydney producer Bajillionaire is back this week with another brand new single. Titled ‘Canadia’, it follows on from his February release, ‘I Feel So Alone In This Club RN’ in that it’s a bright, easy-going and warm slice of indie pop with electronic flourishes.
Over an almost future-bass beat, Bajillionaire‘s so-relatable-it-hurts lyrics and his laidback vocals make for the perfect pairing on ‘Canadia’. There’s just enough drops to transport you out of your isolated confines and back to a party with all your friends, while the actual songwriting of the single continue to prove Bajillionaire is one to watch as he continues to hit his stride as an exciting new force in the pop landscape. His ability to be quite funny in his lyrics while crafting forward-thinking beats is one that sets him apart, and with this latest single, he’s now two for two in 2020 and looking set to have one of his biggest years yet.
Bajillionaire said of his new single, “So the story of this song is a little convoluted… It starts with me going on a few dates with a girl, you know, the usual situation. It is going well and nothing of note happens, until one day she tells me she is moving to Canada on a uni exchange. So heartbroken me obviously decides the write a song or 10 about it. After writing the chorus and the hook for this song, I had this realisation that I sound like that friend you had in fourth grade who would be like, ‘Yeah I’ve got a girlfriend! But she’s living in Canada.’ So that’s how the idea for this song was born; heartbreak and my stupid sense of humour. In terms of the song itself, it’s just fun and silly. It dips in and out of reality, and the chorus is real bouncy, and if you can’t figure out from the rest of the song it’s just meant to be a little fun, there’s even a sax solo at the end as the cherry on the ice cream. It really is just a fun, silly, song, and I hope people love it!”
