PREMIERE: Otiuh reminds us good times will come again with ’21’
In the time of COVID-19, many of us are spending our time in isolation reminiscing on better times. While it can be bittersweet looking back to all the times we spent with our friends making lifelong memories, it can also serve as a reminder to remember that those times will come again. You can either look back and feel sad, or you can look back and be grateful they existed at all and revel in the good times. Thankfully, Perth duo OTIUH have just the track to do the latter to, so we’re choosing to feel damn good today with their latest single ’21’.
Teaming up with friends and fellow Perth musicians Outlnd and Adrian Dzvuke, ’21’ is a bombastic, feel-good ode to their party-filled years, and a healthy dose of optimism that good times will come again. Featuring the infectious bars of Otiuh‘s Cesare Papa and Jahmeil Baker plus a smooth-as-butter hook, ’21’ is all you need to shake off the isolation cobwebs and leave it all on your makeshift dancefloor.
Speaking to Purple Sneakers about their new single, Otiuh said, “I feel like we’ve been working to make this track for years. The dance groove, the mix of live instruments and dusty samples, the earworm hook. It’s all there. It’s a real party with friends.”
Taken from their forthcoming EP, La Festa, ’21’ is the latest slice of stellar hip-hop courtesy of Otiuh as they continue to prove themselves a duo to watch thanks to their ability to do something no one else is doing right now. Armed with an upbeat and ambitious mentality, the pair want to make people feel good and are always pushing their sound further and further, and ’21’ is all the proof you need to know they’re onto a winner here.
