Listen back to Jamie xx's uplifting two-hour Essential Mix

For the first time solo since 2011, JAMIE XX is the latest artist for BBC Radio 1's esteemed Essential Mix series and has delivered two hours of euphoric, uplifting, soul-brightening music.

Following on from the release of his long-awaited new single, 'Idontknow', this Essential Mix is a very special one indeed. Sharing a post on Instagram, the producer said he'd been preparing for the mix for two weeks.

“The Essential Mix has always been an important one for me, been listening to it since before I was allowed to go to clubs. I spent the last two weeks trying to finish music so that it could be in here. Had a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy and can dance around your houses to it, and with friends online.”

Kicking things off with a rework of his latest single, the mix also featured vocals courtesy of Oliver Sim before kicking into gear with tracks from Koreless, Peter Gabriel, Kelly Lee Owens, Floating Points and many, many more.

Hinting that there's plenty more new music to come, this year looks set to be a very exciting one indeed for Jamie xx.
