100 gecs go into deep detail breaking down their incendiary hit, 'Money Machine', for the latest episode of Song Exploder.

100 gecs fans everywhere rejoice! The duo are the latest guests on the Song Exploder podcast, in which they break down their hit, 'Money Machine'.

Diving into the very early days of the duo's existence, Dylan Brady and Laura Les go right back to when they first met all the way through to breaking down the absolutely bonkers track, sound by sound. Les even detailed the inspiration behind the iconic spoken introduction, explaining the verse was aimed at a "Hank Hill" character loosely based on someone she'd had a fight with at work.

"I'd been watching a lot of King of The Hill and I'd constructed in my head a sort of Hank Hill asshole character to just absolutely break down," Les said. "Right then I was just needing to absolutely decimate this man, this man in my head. so I recorded the intro of the song just thinking of this emotion of, 'Fuck you, I'm flexing'."

Later in the podcast, the pair also express their love of auto-tune, reveal how a Spongebob sample got in there, and discuss the drive both of them have and how mutually beneficial their working relationship is.
