Brisbane's MARLOE is back with her second single of 2020 in the propulsive, uplifting pop bop 'Like I Need You'.

Brisbane's MARLOE has made the best of all of our current situations with her new single and video, 'Like I Need You' which we are thrilled to be premiering on Purple Sneakers today. An empowering track about being totally secure within yourself first and foremost, 'Like I Need You' is a gentle but commanding, electronic-infused pop bop and cements MARLOE as a real force to be reckoned with in the ever-changing pop landscape.

Working with bonafide pop wizards Evan Klar and Konstantin Kerstig, 'Like I Need You' is the second single this year from MARLOE, and follows on from the release of her self-titled EP in 2019. It's a propulsive, uplifting and reassuring slice of left-of-centre pop with a propulsive beat and lyrics that get right in under your skin. Speaking of her new single, MARLOE told Purple Sneakers, “It was actually the first time I had worked with my producer Evan Klar when we wrote this song. First sessions can really go either way when you have just met someone but we clicked instantly and the entire session was an absolute experimental vibe, he’s the best."

"I found myself stuck in a battle between my head and my heart and the more I reflected on that later in life the more fascinated I became with the relationship I have with myself, and how people will literally defy logic and common sense to feel something with someone, even if it hurts them. “Like I Need You” is the inner monologue of that battle, but wayyy more fun."

To bring the track further to life, MARLOE worked with her sister to try their best to capture some visuals while in isolation, and unknowingly struck visual gold with the lo-fi, DIY clip they ended up with.

"Originally when we started planning this little iso video, I didn’t think it would work because we couldn’t have anyone else in it," MARLOE said. "It wasn’t until my sister and I were filming that I realised how perfectly that fit with the song, just me dancing around being silly, living my best life whilst having some sort of internal crisis going inside haha!"
