30 June 2020 | 4:00 pm | Emma Jones

Gold Coast duo Love Level prove they're an act to watch with their debut, self-titled single custom made for Clairo and The Japanese House fans.

Gold Coast duo LOVE LEVEL are getting ready to release their debut single this week. As far as first impressions go, they have absolutely nailed it. Sitting somewhere between The Japanese HouseClairo and BROODS, their self-titled debut single is a honeyed, magical escape, and we are thrilled to be premiering it today on Purple Sneakers.

'Love Level' is the duo's first songs they made together with the help of Dimitrios Mois. Inspired by a drunk friend on a night out saying he'd had just enough to drink to be on his "love level," the pair (comprised of Aimee Van der Kruik and Juliana Ebert) took that idea and ran with it, enveloping that love-drunk euphoria we all feel when we're surrounded by those we love.

"We also played on the idea of the song being interpreted from a romantic perspective - the vulnerability and overwhelming emotions that come with any new relationship," they said.

It's a romantic, warm and all-encompassing release, with its woozy beat cutting through the haze of smokey atmospherics. Intimate vocals and swelling synths rise as the song well and truly takes you to that level, sounding at once totally captivating and utterly effortless.

With 'Love Level' the song, Love Level the duo prove they're ones worth keeping an eye on. Having also worked with Callum Macdonald of daste. on this release for extra production as well as having Golden Vessel mix the song, it's clear they've not only got a wealth of talent in their own right, but some very useful friends who will continue to come in handy. We can't wait to hear more. Dive into the release below:
