Live Review: Dro Carey shares new double A-side 'Another Knot' / 'Predictions'

Dro Carey shared a brand new double A-side this week, teaming up with London poet and singer Rue for a very special new single 'Another Knot'.

Beloved Sydney producer DRO CAREY has shared another double A-side this week in the form of 'Another Knot / 'Predictions'.

Teaming up with London poet and singer RUE for 'Another Knot', this single sees Carey dip into a more hip-hop/UK garage sound. It features a propulsive, warm beat that is the perfect accompaniment to RUE's absolutely glorious vocals. Coming across her music on Soundcloud, the pairing of RUE and Dro Carey is one that we would happily hear so much more of — the way they bounce off each other is a testament to each other's abilities both collaboratively and personally. Writing about the song on Instagram, Carey said RUE "penned some of my favourite lyrics of anyone I have ever worked with on this song," and with just one listen it's easy to see why. Dro Carey has always had a knack for bringing out the very best in his collaborators, but there is something undeniably special about 'Another Knot' that we cannot get enough of.

Following this, the other A-side of this release is 'Predictions'. A more contemplative, almost meditative track, 'Predictions' sees Carey tap into the world of Burial and his contemporaries with a subdued, downtempo sound. The classic hallmarks of a Dro Carey song remain in its unsuspecting intricacies and ever-meticulous approach to production, but there are exciting flourishes that represent a certain push and elevation in his sound as well.

This is the second double A-side we've received from Dro Carey this year, following on from March's ‘Clear To You (feat. Francesca Gonzales)’ / ‘Healer’. Further to that, we also received a whopping three albums from the man himself under his other pseudonyms back in April with the producer donating ongoing proceeds to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Fans wishing to purchase their own copy of this latest A-side are encouraged to go to Bandcamp to cop as the label are dedicated all proceeds from the month of June to Aboriginal Lives Matter charities.
