JPEGMAFIA samples Donald Trump on new single ‘THE BENDS!’

JPEGMAFIA

It’s a good time to be a JPEGMAFIA fan. The Baltimore artist has been steadily gifting fans new single after new single for the last few months, and this week he’s come through with the goods again. This time, his latest release is titled ‘THE BENDS!’ and is very another unpredictable track from an artist who refuses to be defined by traditional genre constraints.

As with all previously releases this year, ‘THE BENDS!’ comes with some self-directed visuals. This time, Peggy is wearing what looks to be a beekeeper suit, and the clip is set outside in some dry grass with powerlines in the background.

Accompanied by a simple note to his fans that he misses them and that “2020 makes my head hurt,” ‘THE BENDS!’ begins with a sample of Donald Trump speaking at a 2019 rally held in Atlanta titled “Black Voices For Trump,” according to Pitchfork. The song then kicks into politically charged lyrics from JPEGMAFIA as he takes aim at Trump‘s proclamation of support for black citizens of the United States. “My leader treat me like a enemy/ He’s a casualty/ Wonder if he cries when he sees fans of me/ Cant believe we thought/ He’d be the man for we/ It’s SAD,” he sings over a sluggish groove.
