Live Review: Miiesha taps Briggs, JessB, Jesswar and Hoodzy for 'Nyaaringu' remixes

28 August 2020 | 9:33 am | Emma Jones

Miiesha has shared two new remixes of 'Blood Cells' and 'Hold Strong', enlisting Briggs, JessB, Jesswar and Hoodzy.

Following on from the release of one of this year's most acclaimed records titled Nyaaringu, Miiesha has now shared two special remixes. Enlisting Briggs for a rework of 'Blood Cells', and JessB, Jesswar and Hoodzy for 'Hold Strong', these two remixes coincide with the physical release of Nyaaringu also out today.

Briggs' verse is particularly hard hitting, taking direct aim at the police brutality and systemic racism First Nations people face every day. What was already an emotional song is amplified with his inclusion, and should be mandatory listening for everyone. 'Hold Strong', with JessBJesswar and Hoodzy, is equally as intense, showcases four powerhouse females at the top of their games.

Miiesha said of her album, "Nyaaringu is a collection of stories that I feel I wanted to tell or that I needed to speak on. For me it represents my journey and where I'm at now coming from Woorabinda. The interludes in the collection are recordings of my Grandmother speaking. For me she was and always will stay with me as the strongest voice in my life so I felt she had to be a part of this with me."
