Strawberry Fields announces it will not be going ahead in 2020

For the first time in 12 years, Strawberry Fields will not be going ahead this year.

For the first time in 12 years, Strawberry Fields will not be going ahead this year. Organisers broke the news to their community late Tuesday afternoon, citing the ongoing concerns and constantly changing conditions surrounding the pandemic in Australia as the reason it cannot proceed.

"It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone the next edition of Strawberry Fields until 2021. After much discussion, we believe this is in the best interests of the local community, the emergency services who support the event, our staff and you – our fans," organisers wrote in their statement.

"We love our local community – while we hope the situation in Victoria changes for the better ASAP, we simply can’t entertain the idea of bringing thousands of people from Melbourne, Sydney & beyond to Tocumwal while also respecting the health, safety and wellbeing of the residents there."

Strawberry Fields follows many other events and festivals in Australia cancelling their 2020 events as the live music industry, including Splendour In The Grass, at large continues to be decimated by COVID-19 restrictions. Read the full statement below:
