Live Review: Cut Copy share Jacques Lu Cont remix of "Like Breaking Glass"

22 September 2020 | 11:11 am | Emma Jones

Cut Copy have tapped none other than legendary English electronic music artist, DJ, and producer Jacques Lu Cont for a brand new remix.

Fresh off the back of the release of their sixth studio album, Cut Copy's Freeze Melt is the gift that keeps on giving with a very special remix now out in the world. Courtesy of none other than Jacques Lu Cont, the English electronic music artist, DJ, and producer (widely known for his work with Madonna, Dua Lipa, The Killers, New Order, Kylie Minogue, Missy Elliott and many more) has added his expert touch to 'Like Breaking Glass' and we cannot get enough.

Shaking things up and moving further into pop territory, this remix is a totally uplifting affair. Almost sounding like if Cut Copy made this song back in another era in how well suited the original lends itself to this new iteration, Jacques Lu Cont wastes no time turning this into a propulsive, driving, dance pop moment. Full of hands-up-eyes-closed moments, this remix will have you feeling bittersweet and yearning for the time when we can hear this in its rightful place: the dancefloor.

On the collaboration, Cut Copy frontman Dan Whitford says: "Receiving a remix from Stuart Price (aka Jacques Lu Cont) is something that I probably never thought would happen. In the last fifteen years, his career has taken him outside of our world and into the realm of pop super producers working with multi-million selling artists. But early in his career, his music under the moniker Les Rythmes Digitales, Zoot Woman, and Paper Faces he was a real inspiration. LRD in particular gave me hope of turning tracks I’d made as a no-name bedroom producer with a couple of synths and sampler into something people might want to buy and dance to. The sounds and personality of his music was a real inspiration in an era dominated by generic funky house, and so it’s really such a unique honour to have him approach us to do work on this remix many years later."
