Live Review: Bicep share another glorious new single 'Saku' featuring Clara La San

18 November 2020 | 1:47 pm | Emma Jones

English duo Bicep are now three for three with a third new single out this week titled 'Saku' and featuring Clara La San.

Bicep have released another new single off their forthcoming album. Titled 'Saku', the new single features the honeyed vocals of Clara La San, known for her work with the likes of Yves Tumour, and once again sees the pioneering duo deliver an uplifting, emotive and addicting hybrid of so many different styles.

In a press release, Bicep said of their new single, “We aim to pull influences from a broad range of inspiration when we write music, our tracks often go through many iterations and directions before we settle on the final ingredients.”

“‘Saku’ feels like a good example of a hybrid for us. We drew from IDM and Footwork via 90s R'n'B, and it was amazing to work with Clara who totally gets that vibe. One of the early demos was 155 BPM and another actually used the vocal from ‘Apricots’ (before it became ‘Apricots’) pitched up. We also had a hang drum melody version but in the end we decided to keep Clara's voice uncluttered”

The single follows on from two already stellar releases from the duo, with 'Atlas' kicking off their 2020 back in March and 'Apricots' released just recently in October. All three singles are taken from their eagerly anticipated new album, Isles, out January 22 via Ninja Tune/Inertia. We cannot wait for this one!
