Live Review: PREMIERE: WakeUpNeo shares electrifying taste of forthcoming 'Fractions' EP

Brisbane's WakeUpNeo shares an electrifying first taste of his new 'Fractions' EP, out this week via The Space Between Us.

Just months after the release of their new Hybrida compilation, The Space Between Us are back with another release. Coming in the form of their first solo artist EP to be released on the label, they're set to release Fractions, a glorious new EP from Brisbane artist WakeUpNeo. Having already been tapped to contribute a song to Hybrida, the Fractions EP is another match made in musical heaven between WakeUpNeo and The Space Between Us, and we are thrilled to be premiering the title track off the EP on Purple Sneakers today.

Featuring chopped vocals, electro-leaning drum work and epic synth layers, 'Fractions' as a single is an emotive odyssey. It chugs along as the vocals pan in and out of the mix, with the synths steadily blooming and fusing into each other. Opening notes set the scene as a peculiar one before more and more is gradually added to the fray, resulting in a 4-and-a-half minute propulsive dreamscape that is begging for a thriving dancefloor moment ASAP.

WakeUpNeo said of the release, "I wanted to explore a more melodic side of electro in contrast to my more rhythmic and trance infused ‘Nothing’s Really Free’ EP. I wanted Fractions to slowly progress as it goes on just like my most memorable and favourite club nights/ parties. From downtempo Sunday afternoon grooves to late night escapades I wanted this project to capture it all."

With the full Fractions EP out November 27th, this is not a release to sleep on. As WakeUpNeo adds another shining addition to his own catalogue, so to does The Space Between Us, which remains as committed as it has ever been to shining a light on emerging dance music worth paying attention to.
