Electronic duo Cosmo's Midnight are celebrating the release of their new album Yesteryear with the announcement of their Sydney Opera House debut. Performing two shows over one night, these mainstays in the Australian music scene will be giving their hometown a very special first taste of their newest music as they take on one of the world's most iconic locations.

With COVID-19 putting a halt to most live music events and closing off venues for most of this year, it's definitely exciting to see restrictions ease and live gigs somewhat return, albeit under very different conditions.

Shaping up to be a very triumphant return to the stage, Cosmo's Midnight will showcase their new genre-blending album that sonically builds on disco, psychedelic, RnB, pop and dance. Released on October 2nd, Yesteryear is a wild escape from the present day with sounds from the 70s and 80s that were born out of nostalgia and reflection of the past.

The twin brothers will perform twice on Thursday, December 10 at the Joan Sutherland Theatre, at 6:30 pm and 10 pm AEDT. Following New South Wales COVID-19 restrictions, the theatre will be capped at 50% capacity leaving 750 tickets per show.

Up until now, the Sydney Opera House has been operating online with a range of live-streamed shows and performances as part of their digital program. Cosmo's Midnight will have the unique honour of reopening the venue, with their performances being the first live shows since the Opera House shut its doors earlier this year due to the pandemic.

Talking about this unique upcoming live show experience, the two brothers said, “We're beyond excited to be performing at the Sydney Opera House."

"It's Australia's most iconic venue and we've seen many shows there over the years but we never imagined we'd be performing there let alone for our only hometown show in 2020 - it's just a dream come true! We can't wait to bring our new album fully realised to the stage for the very first time for you all."

Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall, said they are eager to open the Opera House to fans and are excited to welcome Cosmo's Midnight into their doors.

"It’s a joyous feeling to know that Sydney’s music lovers are finally able to come back together to celebrate music and art under the sails again, and what better way to do it than with the city’s own Patrick and Cosmo Liney on an absolute career high," Marshall said.

This one-off experience is not to be missed, as Australia's favourite twins take on one of the most iconic stages in the world. If you're a fan of the boys and their boundary-breaking Yesteryear album, then this event is just for you.

Tickets go on sale Thursday 12 November from 9 am AEDT. Visit the Sydney Opera House website to find out more.
